Smoke Alarm Program
Smoke alarms are a key part of a home fire escape plan. When there is a fire, smoke spreads fast. Working smoke alarms give you early warning so you can get outside quickly.
The Harris County ESD No. 17 Smoke Alarm Program is one of many Community Risk Reduction Programs offered to in-district residents, FREE of charge, with the goal of every home in our district equipped with working smoke alarms.
Smoke alarms are provided and installed at no charge to in-district residents, and can be requested following the steps below:
STEP 1: Determine if Your Home Address is Located In-District
- Click on the hyperlink above and enter your home address
- Locate the “Fire” section for the name of your local ESD/ Fire Department
- Residence is located in-district if your section says: Little York Fire_ESD 17
NOTE: If you do NOT live in-district and need help contacting your local ESD/Fire Department, please feel free to contact us and we would be glad to assist you getting to the correct department.
STEP 2: Request a Smoke Alarm Inspection
- Fill out the below Smoke Alarm Request Form and hit “Submit”.
- Once submitted, a member from our staff will contact you within 1-3 business days to schedule the inspection.
- Smoke alarms will be installed IF firefighters determine them to be needed or replaced in your home.
Reason for Denial of Service:

- Home residence is not located in-district.
- Home residence is a multi-family residence (ex. apartment)
